Dawamu offers an outstanding, all-round education for the leaders of tomorrow.
What others call leadership; we call ‘driven’! Like it or not the boy-child is created to take the pivotal role in society. However, so many factors, most of them unknown to the subject, have made our boys and men dull and unengaged. We strive to re-spark fire to the soul of our learners through Christian teachings and mentorship programs. We also provide an environment that allows learners to discover their purpose in life and this allows them to shine. When we shine, we feel good about ourselves. With great self-esteem, great things happen. Learners become driven, and we find ourselves following their inspired lead.
We are committed to a unique approach that forms the foundation of our work with students. It is our model of operation that we call ‘Learn, Lead, and Lean’.
This model is based on these three virtues:
Learn – which is to get the right information through books, active life, association with others, and engagement of the real world
Lead – by first finding yourself, connect with others, use critical thinking to solve problems, practice kindness, and be resourceful, and competent so as to establish your key role in the world
Lean – depending on God, The Teachings of Christ, and your loved ones for true strength and encouragement, while being compassionate enough to offer the same love back to those who need it the most. This model is based on the life of Joseph, the surrogate father of Jesus Christ, who was trusted by The Most High God, to raise His son. Dawamu School emulates that spirit of servitude to our sons. We are as committed to your sons just as Joseph was to the Son of God.
Our junior Secondary School curriculum is unmatched. We provide a more rounded learning experience that combines the practicality of CBC with the wisdom of the real world. So, our JSS experience takes us to the environment in which the lessons apply. We expose the learners to key touch points in the market place that give them a deeper understanding of the lessons provided in class.
Some examples include visits to commercial farms to strengthen their knowledge of agriculture which is Africa’s main economic activity; intense mentorship programs that cover matters like mental health, entrepreneurship, and finance literacy. We also expose them to dynamic public spaces like hospitals and police stations so that they can get a feel of how such institutions operate.
Dawamu School has a strong focus on ICT. This is because more and more each day, technology is taking over all the vital aspects of our lives. In this day and age, one needs to be tech savvy to access most government services, banking, healthcare, and social activity as well. Communication avenues are also changing day in, day out, due to technology. It is therefore important for our learners to be in tune with the on-goings in ICT.
The other reason we focus on ICT is because our learners are talented in this field. Recent events have shown us that our students can do more when it comes to problem-solving with technology. We have therefore created an environment that encourages students to work on great projects and, thereafter, engage with industry players to try and find out how viable their ideas are, and how to activate them in the real world. It is not just an IT lesson in class anymore, but an opportunity to grow via our talents.
We all wish for wings to fly! At our school that wish is granted by the Aviation Club where we teach our boys to fly planes. The level of connectivity that air travel provides cannot be found in any other travel industry. Flying connects us to almost every point on the planet. When we fly to a new place, we expand our horizons and learn more about culture. However very few institutions provide flying lessons. We do.
The advantage of learning aviation early in life is that at a young age, one has less flight fright than in later years. Young people learn better because of less fear and genuine excitement about flight. We also expose our students to the business end of aviation so that they can have a holistic understanding of the industry. Give your son the chance to be air borne. You never know where that skill will take him in his life.
Times have changed. What was 8-4-4 has now been replaced with the Competence-Based-Curriculum (CBC). The Kenyan education system has changed with the times and we now have adopted a more relevant curriculum that suits today’s learners. Our CBC style is vibrant. We create a learning experience that is lively and inclusive of the students’ ideas. Not dictation but participation. We understand that learners appreciate when they are treated as allies and allowed to participate in their own education.
We create platforms where learners engage with real-life situations in line with what they are learning so that the lessons are properly understood. For us, our methods exist within the VUCA (Vision, Understanding, Clarity, Agility) world. We encourage learners to be proud of the good dreams they have, share, and pursue them diligently. Our methods and interactions are clear and progressive; adapting to the environment we’re in. We are never satisfied until our learners benefit from their education
The 8-4-4 curriculum is a thorough learning tool that aims to educate the individual in a wide range of subjects to strengthen their chances of survival in almost any environment. This curriculum also sharpens the individual’s skills with a wide range of informative classes, and practical sessions that engage the child’s mind, body, and spirit in positive ways and uplifts their level of understanding. Many of our industry titans today went through this system.
We offer this curriculum to students in a modern setting with a relevant and updated outlook to the lessons. For anyone seeking a profound education system that inspires a student who is above average, then this is the curriculum for them. Enroll today.
